Understanding poker tells is a difficult enough art in
person, but playing online at
Littlewoods Poker, or any other online poker site, adds a
new dimension. You can’t see the person you’re playing with, so
body language and facial expression based tells are out of the
picture.
Another layer of difficulty comes in that the person you are
playing with at Littlewoods Betting could be doing other things
at the same time. They could be working, eating, on the
telephone, or playing several tables at once. This makes it hard
to judge what someone is thinking by the speed of their play.
Did they pause before that raise because they are unsure? Or
were they bluffing? Or, were they just tabbed out to another
table for a moment?
Fortunately, playing online makes it easy to keep notes on
your opponents, so you can get some idea of each player’s
personality. You can also keep track of which players use
features such as auto raise / auto call buttons. If someone has
used these buttons, they probably have a very strong hand.
You can also often judge a player by how they behave in table
chat. If a player is very talkative in the
Littlewoods Poker
table chat, and then goes quiet, this could be a sign they have
a good hand. If a quiet player suddenly starts talking, could it
be that they are trying to appear confident?
If you are playing low limit poker in
Texas Hold’em tables, watch for patterns in the play of your
opponents – there are some very common ones, players feigning
weakness on an obviously strong hand, and players following
simple rules such as ‘Wait a turn after getting a pair before
betting’. This may work against very inexperienced players, but
most experienced people will notice that something isn’t quite
right.
